Effective July 1, 2009, the State of Ohio changed the requirements for documents being accepted by the county recorder.
In general and with a few exceptions, House Bill 525 allows the county recorder to charge an extra $20 if the document does not comply with the following requirements:
- Blue or black ink only
- A writing must be in at least 10 point computer font
- Minimum Paper size – Letter – 8.5 by 11
- Maximum paper size – Legal – 8.5 x 14
- No highlighting
- 1 inch margin on the bottom, right and left side of each page
- 3 inch margin on the top of the first page
- 1.5 margin on the top of each page other than the first page
The Ohio Real Estate Blog also outlines the new requirements of HB 525.
