There have been numerous emails circulating recently about a change in the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) rules dealing with the renewal of driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations.

As of October 1, 2009, the BMV will impose a $20 late fee if you do not timely renew your driver’s license or vehicle registration. In general and with some exceptions, vehicle registrations and driver licenses expire on your birthday in the month of expiration and not at the end of the the month.

This has apparently caused a lot of confusion and the BMV has a prominent notice about this at www.ohiobmv.com
